- Sponsor’s passport with valid foreign visa or residence permit
- Proof of the sponsor’s NRI status, such as an employment contract or residence card

- Sponsor’s bank statement and NRE or NRO account details

Start These Three in February, Not June
If you take nothing else from this page, take this. Three documents have long, unpredictable lead times and they are the reason families miss seats:
- Migration certificate. Boards outside Karnataka can take several weeks, longer during peak season when every applicant is asking at once. Apply the moment your final exam is done.
- AIU equivalence certificate. For foreign board candidates this is non negotiable and slow. No college can admit you without it where it is required.
- Embassy attestation. For NRI and foreign national applicants, attestation through the Indian mission adds two to four weeks on top of everything else.
How to Organise the Set
- Make three sets. Originals in one folder, a full set of photocopies in another, and a complete scanned PDF set on your phone and in cloud storage. Colleges ask for different combinations and you will not always be at home when they do.
- Scan properly. Clear, straight, full page, readable file names. A blurry photo of a marksheet gets rejected and costs you a day.
- Keep attested copies ready. Some colleges want self attested, some want gazetted attestation. Having a stack of self attested copies covers most cases.
- Never hand over originals without a receipt. Colleges do retain certain originals after admission, but always against written acknowledgement listing each document.
- Keep every fee receipt for four years. Caution deposits are refundable at course completion and the receipt is what gets it back.
